You read that correctly. My publishing company, Monstrous Books, has acquired the rights to Kolchak: The Night Stalker—and will be publishing new books, comics, graphic novels, anthologies and more for many years to come!
I can't tell you how excited I am about this. The acquisition has been in the works for several months and it took so much to keep this quiet. I have so many plans for Kolchak...
My first project is a reprint of the novel that started it all. The Night Stalker by Jeff Rice is a restored, deluxe, illustrated hardcover edition that was made for Kolchak fans. Some of you may know that the older editions were filled with typos and the most recent reprint even deleted and changed text from the original. We've put the original text back, cleaned up the manuscript, added illustrations and essays, and now we're offering you the ultimate editon of the novel that became the basis for the The Night Stalker TV movie and gave birth to the cult series.
The deluxe edition, which will be Kickstarted soon, will also have red painted edges and a sewn-in bookmark. Plus...

We're a week away from Halloween and it's the perfect time for this amazing project from Matt Wagner and Kelley Jones. I'm helping to manage the campaign for Dracula: The Impaler, a 100+ page graphic novel about Dracula's secret history. I've read it, and let me tell you, it is awesome! This is a really special book and Matt and Kelley are planning to release three more graphic novels in this epic series. Don't miss out.

Guess who I met at the Colorado Festival of Horror over the weekend? Kolchak was well represented at the convention and I sold out of all my books. Kolchak is going strong!
But that's not all the love Carl has gotten recently. The graphic novel won a Scribe award from the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers. The 50th anniversary book is now 4 for 4 when it comes to awards, following the Stoker, Rondo Hatton, and Imadjinn awards. Thank you all for your continued support! There will be a lot more coming up. Speaking of which...
While at the Colorado Festival of Horror I got to be part of the launch for True Believers, the upcoming comic by Stephen Graham Jones and JoshViola. I'm helping run their Kickstarter, which has a ton of amazing rewards, including a variant cover from Kolchak artist Clara Meath as well as a very cool and creepy mask of the comic's slasher character, and the chance to be drawn into the second issue.
Isn't this cover amazing? Juan Samu did the art and colors. It's one of the six variants you can pick up through the True Believers Kickstarter. I'd love see you all over at the campaign. Give it a look and let me know what you think.
